Job Description

Seeking Electrical Test Technicians (STO) for the Electric Boat, Quonset Point Test Organization. Electrical Test Technicians perform electrical and fiber optic acceptance testing in accordance with test procedures, technical manuals, drawings, specifications and procedures.  Testing is performed in a shipboard construction environment.

  • Candidates must be able to understand electrical system drawings and diagrams
  • The ability to exactly follow technical testing requirements from drawings and procedures is essential
  • Applicants must have experience with and demonstrate an understanding of electrical test equipment and fiber optical test equipment such as; voltmeters, multi-function meters, insulation resistance testers, milliohm meters, dc power supplies, light sources and light meters
  • Must be able to troubleshoot a problem and then clearly write an explanation for the trades on how to correct the issue


Education/ Experience


  • High School diploma or equivalency degree required; additional preference given for technical, vocational or apprenticeship training associated with electrical and/or electronic theory and application

  • Must be able to work all shifts, heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required

  • Individual must be able to understand and explain electrical drawings, blueprints and diagrams - the ability to read, understand, and work from electrical drawings & diagrams and blueprints is required

  • Applicants must have experience with and demonstrate an understanding of electrical test equipment

Preferred / Desired Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience relevant electrical testing experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical and or electronic theory is necessary for the job requirements

  • Military experience preferred; US Navy experience involving the operation and maintenance of electrical and/or electronic systems is highly desirable



Applicants must apply for a DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment. They must be able to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance in order to remain in this position.

  • The individual must demonstrate competency in understanding and following Electric Boat procedures
  • Must possess strong mathmatical, communication, computer skills and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work all shifts, heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
  • Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals
  • Applicant must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, complex manufacturing blueprints and procedures
  • Individuals may be required to possess their own basic hand tools
