    Job Description

    The 3D Metrologist in the Accuracy Control Group of the Quonset Point Engineering Department performs 3-dimensional measurement & analysis services for the facility.

    • This position will provide technical measurement support for construction activities, structural, mechanical & piping manufacturing at Quonset Point
    • This individual will be responsible for performing 3-dimensional surveys, processing the data within a graphical analysis software package, and develop analysis reports to identify specific measurement points relative to drawing specifications
    • Candidate must be willing to learn new instrumentation and software associated with 3-dimensional measuring as new technologies emerge

    Education/ Experience

    Requirements:

     

    As a minimum requirement, qualified candidates must possess one of the following:

    1.  A Bachelors Degree in Surveying Technology or in Engineering Technology
    2.  3+ years of experience using 3-dimensional measurement equipment (photogrammetry, laser tracker, laser scanner, CMM)
    3.  Demonstrated Robotic Programming experience
    • A strong math background including strong knowledge of geometry and trigonometry is required
    • Candidate must be able to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and procedures
    • Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills and possess independent thinking & problem solving abilities

     

    Preferred / Desired Skills:

    • Experience in land surveying is highly desired
    • Experience with a graphical analysis software package such as Spatial Analyzer is highly desired
    • Relevant Navy/Military experience preferred

    Skills

    Applicants must apply for a DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment. They must be able to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance to remain in that position.

    • Must be able to work all shifts & extended hours as required
    • Candidate will be required to operate a JLG and work from within the basket at high elevations
    • Occasional travel to support off-site work is also required
